Building trust, one visit at a time

Family Visitation Center provides children the chance to build and maintain strong, nurturing relationships with their non-custodial parent in a supportive environment. With the rise in child welfare concerns in custody cases, judges increasingly order supervised visitation to ensure children's safety and well-being.

QUESTIONS

  • What is supervised visitation?

Supervised visitation involves a neutral third party observing the interactions between the visiting parent and child for a designated period. This setup allows parents in high-conflict or high-risk situations to spend time with their child in a safe and monitored environment.

  • Where do supervised visits take place?

Our supervisors work off site. Supervised visits can take place in a park, zoo, and other indoor child entertainment establishments. If allowed, the visits can also take place in the home of the visiting parents.

  • What do supervisors do?

Supervisors ensure interactions during visits are age-appropriate and safe for the child, intervening if adult topics arise. A supervisor will redirect a parent if the conversation entails adult issues or is of a topic that should be discussed in therapy. Parents remain responsible for their child's behavior and must step in if the child becomes unruly. Our supervisors provide court-admissible documentation following each visit.

  • How do I get the process started?

Both parents will receive an intake packet. Upon completion of the intake packet, a visit will be scheduled. While Family Visitation Center will try to accommodate the court-ordered time frame, supervisor availability cannot be guaranteed. Supervisors are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The visitation details will be shared with the custodial parent. Any disputes about the location or time must be resolved by the parents or their lawyers.
